WINSTON ANNOUNCES WINNERS OF FIRST FILM FESTIVAL


August 9, 2007 - Winston today announced the winners of its first full FlyFishingMovies.com Film Festival for the period ending June 30, 2007. With over 40 freshwater and saltwater flyfishing movies submitted, the three independent jurors had their work cut out for them. After careful and lengthy deliberation, we are pleased to announce the winners.


Golden Trout Award


The Golden Trout Award - For Best Film Overall
movie goes to “Reel Time”, submitted by Double Haul Productions of Toronto, Canada. They will receive the grand prize of $1000 in their choice of Winston rods and accessories. Reel Timewas also the winneof the interim film festival ending in March.

One of the three jurors, Chad Oman, Producer or Executive Producer of over 20 feature films including Pirates of the Caribbean, Remember the Titans and National Treasure, and President of Production at Jerry Bruckheimer Films, one of the leading motion picture production companies in the world, said, "Reel Time" is an emotional, visually artistic piece of filmmaking that comes as close to anything I have seen to capturing the spirit of fly fishing."



The Silver Trout Awards:

For Best Freshwater Film goes to “Getting Guided”
For Best Saltwater Film goes to “Bueno Pues”

Both of the Silver Trout winners will receive a Winston graphite rod of their choice.





The Bronze Trout Awards:


For Best Freshwater Film goes to “The Red Shed”
For Best Saltwater Film goes to “Tarpon”

Both of the Bronze Trout winners will receive $100 in Winston accessories of their choice.






Certificates of Distinction
: In addition, the Jury awarded Certificates of Distinction to:

Two freshwater films; “Artist By Nature” and “I Became the Words”; and
Two saltwater films; “Mexico Tarpon” and “Vieques on the Fly”.

Certificates will be presented to all winners and the names of the winners will be engraved on a
FlyFishingMovies.com Film Festival plaque permanently housed in the Winston Museum.

Winston and the Festival Jury congratulate the winners for their impressive award-winning films. In addition we’d like to thank all the filmmakers for an outstanding array of entertaining submissions. It takes a great deal of work to put together a film with an interesting story, told in a compelling and creative way… the caliber of films was impressive.

The Jury consisted of James Prosek, renowned artist, conservationist and writer; Chad Oman, President of Production with Jerry Bruckheimer Films, and Steve Ransohoff, President of Film Finances, Inc.

The Second FlyFishingMovies.com Film Festival has already begun and will run through December 31, 2007. Prizes for the Seconfestival will be announced in a few weeks. The first entries are already available for viewing on flyfishingmovies.com






How to enter a flyfishing movie: simply logon to flyfishingmovies.com and follow the instructions. In most cases, movies can be uploaded immediately.
