A CUBA SUPER SLAM!

“Anyone who chases Permit knows that it’s a high stakes game. There are so many things that have to go right in order to get your hand around the sharply forked black tail that we dream of seeing poking up on a shallow flat. It goes without saying that you need to have a rod in your hands that you “really like” when the opportunity to feed one presents itself. For me, the Winston 9 weight Air Salt fits that bill.”Steve Joyce from our friends at Red’s Fly Shop

Winston Bamboo is Back!

The R.L. Winston Rod Company is thrilled to announce that we have reopened our Bamboo Shop in a new facility in Twin Bridges, Montana.

A fire started in the old Bamboo Shop on May 7, 2017, tragically destroying the building and all its contents.

Since the fire, we’ve worked diligently to not only find a new location for the Bamboo Shop, but also replace all the unique tools, and machinery. After two years of effort, it’s extremely rewarding to get back to work.

Faces of Winston –
Meet Adam Hutchison, Sales and Pro Services

Where are you from originally?

I hail from the Battle Born State of Nevada. My dad put me in the outdoors when I was still in diapers and have been fly fishing since I was 8 years old. I’ll never forget the first time I saw my dad dry fly fish for the first time, and since then, I haven’t looked back.

What do you do for Winston & Bauer?

I do a little bit of everything for both companies, but I’m primarily focused on Pro Services, Social Marketing, and Dealer/Customer Service.

How long have you been with the company and in what position?

9 years ago, I was fresh out of college with a BA degree in English. My wife had one more year in college, so I applied to work at Winston in the blank rolling for the time being. Not long after I was hired on in rod production, I applied for and was hired on for an open customer service position in the front office.

Where do you live? Any family?

I currently live in the amazing town of Dillon, Montana, with my beautiful wife, Chelsey, and two daughters, Raylee and Stevie. I live 45 seconds from the Beaverhead River and you can often find us there after school and work, enjoying the evening hatch or floating the Big Hole.

What’s your favorite part about working for Winston/Bauer?

The people, hands down. You can’t find better people to work with, and our customers, vendors, and pros are absolutely world class. I constantly must pinch to make sure this is all real!

Dream Fishing Destinations?

New Zealand – 26 inch Brown. Changing flies 6 times. Perfect presentation, and an eat.
Seychelles – feeling a locomotive GT charge my fly, eat, and head for the horizon.
Kamchatka – skating mice over hangry Rainbows.
